When going to college I found the music building on campus had a basement full of small rooms with a piano in each one free for all students to use! I was in heaven. The piano I grew up with at home was never in tune so playing with the radio / tape didn’t even cross my mind. I started dragging a boom box into the piano rooms at college and I would work on playing by ear. I was never good at reading sheet music. I can do it but I’m slow..... I have a good ear and I got better at figuring out what key a song was in and then what chords are often used when playing in that key. At the same time I started learning the guitar in college. Of course I just learned a few chords and it’s true that once you learn 3 chords on a guitar you have hundreds of songs you can play. I started thinking why can’t we do the same thing with the piano? We can..... it wasn’t long and I was building 3 ring binders with printed out tabs of songs I enjoy. I also started burning CD’s to play along with. This was a lot of fun but it was painful to keep my tabs sorted / find a certain song that was requested. I also wanted to play the songs in the order I choose. My wife hated the look of having binders of sheet music piled up on my baby grand with pages falling out and it just looked like an eye sore and was very inefficient. I’m a software developer so I thought maybe I should try to find some software that would help me organize all the music and link it to the mp3’s(audio) and mp4 (videos) of the song. When I came up empty in the search I decided to write it myself. Hence Music Library + was born!
